Located in Southeastern Alberta, the Town of Oyen delivers on its promise of “blue skies, clean air and friendly people.” Oyen offers residents and visitors the grandeur of wide open blue skies in the heartland of Alberta’s vast rolling prairie. This tranquility is deceptive-Oyen is a modern urban community, serving many other small hamlets and villages and rural dwellers. The town provides excellent municipal services, medical services, modern schools, recreation/leisure facilities, senior accommodations and much more.
Proud Home of Melody Davidson
Melody Davidson has traveled the world and is an Olympic gold medalist, but she still credits her small-town upbringing for making her who she is today. “I feel really fortunate to have had the opportunities I had,” says Davidson, who grew up in Oyen and has been inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame. “Growing up in small-town Alberta, I had the chance to try all kinds of different things and my family encouraged that. I’m not sure you would get those same opportunities in a larger centre.”
